Fully Funded Arts Education Programme for FAS pupils

We are looking for FAS pupils, between the ages of 7-11 years old, who show keen interest and potential in visual or performing arts to pursue an arts education programme fully funded by The Business Times Budding Artists Fund at The Little Arts Academy (managed by The Old Parliament House).

Application for the June 2013 intake is now open. There are limited vacancies for Saturday classes and 100 vacancies for weekday classes.

Those who do not meet the criteria for funding

Children who do not meet the criteria for funding may still apply for a place.  Fees for classes are $250 per hour per term ($25 per lesson).

The Arts Training

Children will undergo a two-year Arts Exposure Programme.

This programme comprises:

·                     A six-month multidisciplinary Art of Play module where students are introduced to music, dance, theatre and visual arts

·                     A 1.5 year Foundation module in a genre/discipline of their choice where they would work towards a basic graded examination e.g. Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Royal Academy of Dance, etc.

Application Process

The application closes on 18 May 2013, for the cohort starting their lessons at LAA on 29 June 2013. Successful applicants will be notified and they are required to attend a compulsory orientation on 15 June 2013.

Applicants who miss this deadline will be considered for the next intake in Jan 2014.

How to Poison An Art Teacher

Poisonous Words like... I forgot to bring or I did not bring or I don't have...will make an art teacher feels unwell.

Please help the teachers to work in a safe environment.

Parents, please help to remind your children to bring the basic art supplies for their art classes. I do keep some art supplies in school for children to use if they forget to bring theirs.  While these supplies may not be exorbitant to replace, the costs of these supplies come entirely from my own pocket for the convenience of your child. It is unfair to borrow any item from another child because he/ she did not have the materials. I understand that some children might forget to bring things occasionally but I've been noticing some 'familar' faces...

On another note, I really appreciate the children's effort for bringing their art supplies and handing in their artwork on time. :)

Teachers' pigeon holes



Teachers' pigeon holes just outside the staffroom at level 2.



Each teacher has a pigeon hole for putting books/ worksheets. If your child needs to hand in something urgently, get them to put it on the shelf that's labelled with the teacher's name.

Art Logistics

Dear Parents

Pupils are to keep all their art materials (drawing block, brushes, watercolour, scissors, crayons, water container) in a recycle bag, plastic bag or big ziplock bag. These bags will be placed in their own classrooms.

With only an hour of interacting with your children once a week, this has to be the fastest way to disseminate information to all the parents. Maximum time can be reserved for meaningful lessons if you can help us to reinforce the necessary procedures in class so that learning can take place.
